Field Study
The afternoon sun breaks through the clouds in slow ribbons, warming the air and turning the landscape a hazy shade of gold.
Long grasses bend with the breeze at the edge of the road. Rows of olive trees stretch across the hillsides, silver leaves flickering in the light. A faint thread of lavender carried on the wind from somewhere farther down the hill.
The air moves differently out here in Tuscany. Open, warm, alive with quiet detail. I drive with the top down, the wind still cool against my face as the spring sun begins to remember her warmth.
Spring has only just begun, and already the fields are waking.
